Near Goat Lakes

Near Goat Lakes along the Pacific Crest Trail, north of Harts Pass.
Along the west edge of the Pasaytan are rugged mountains and canyons
along some of the most scenic Pacific Crest Trail hiking in the northwest.
That is Powder Mountain in the center.

Find out more about Dusty and Sahalie and their owners.

Jim shares his water

Packing the Pacific CrestTrail is sometimes dry and hot work
and a pack llama appreciates a drink from a friend. Like real good friends, Jim shares his water with Sahalie.

Read about this female pack llama in an article called,
My new packing buddy,
in the BCL, 8-94 back issue.

Pasayten Wilderness

. . . even through very narrow places. Our llamas had to jump up and push their bodies through a very narrow space between longs, stump and debris.

His first jump hit panniers on both sides and he bounced back down the hill.
He had to be willing to go again and be helped.
